Law Offices of Ruben P. Ruiz - San Jose Civil & Business Litigation Attorney
California Law Firm
The Law Offices of Ruben P. Ruiz represents small to medium sized businesses and private individuals throughout the Silicon Valley and San Jose. We provide value-oriented legal representation that is efficient, timely, and cost-effective to companies in both technology and traditional sectors. Our practice focuses on business and commercial litigation, counseling, and general civil litigation.
Since most of our clients are small to medium sized businesses, we find solutions that both achieve their goals and maintain corporate resources. At times aggressive litigation is inevitable, but, unlike traditional law firms, we see the courtroom as the last step in resolving a legal dispute, not the first.
We regularly help clients resolve contractual and commercial disputes, defend and prosecute fraud and misrepresentation, assist in shareholder/ investor disputes, manage employment, and negotiate legal disputes outside of litigation. We also provide business counseling and transactional services to help our clients manage their businesses efficiently while limiting future legal liability.
Founded to serve clients in a highly competitive environment, we utilize the latest legal technology to streamline efficiency and manage legal costs. Our efficiency allows us to respond rapidly to legal developments and maintain close hands-on contact with our clients.
We provide a cost free initial consultation, and offer our clients the option of both traditional hourly and flat fee billing.

How do you qualify for workers compensation in Illinois?
The Workers’ Compensation Statute protects every employee in the State of Illinois.
A victim of a work-related injury or illness is eligible for many forms of compensation including reasonable medical care required to cure or relieve the impact of the injury, lost time from work, and any temporary or permanent disability.
Illinois Workers’ compensation is a system of benefits that:
– Pays for the medical treatment and medical bills incurred by work-related injuries and illnesses.
– Pays for the lost time from work
– Pays for any temporary or permanent disabilities
– Covers nearly every employee in Illinois
– and begins the very first day that you start working for your employer.
Employers in Illinois are required to purchase workers’ compensation insurance for their employees and the insurance companies fund the payment of worker’s compensation benefits for employees’ claims. In the event of a dispute, the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission (IWCC, or the Commission) enforces the state’s worker’s compensation laws and protects worker rights.
